Under the revised regulations, banks and financial institutions may accept land record entries reflecting a security interest for housing financing of up to Rs. 5 million. Financial institutions will also be required to collect only the ownership documents specified by the SBP and provide borrowers with a signed receipt detailing every document submitted.

The revised framework maintains the requirement to secure housing loans through the deposit of property ownership documents in favor of the lending institution or through a duly registered mortgage. Housing finance may also be provided against a Green Property Certificate issued by the Government of Punjab or an equivalent certificate issued by the competent authority in other provinces, subject to applicable requirements.

Watch this report for the latest updates on Pakistan's housing finance regulations, property documentation requirements, mortgage procedures, and home loan eligibility.
