DHA Lahore Property Transfers: Members Advised to Correct Name Discrepancies in Tax Records

DHA Lahore Property Transfers: Members Advised to Correct Name Discrepancies in Tax Records

Lahore | Riaz Hussain ReNews Pakistan The DHA Estate Agents Association (DHA EAA) has advised members, property buyers and sellers in DHA Lahore to ensure that their names appear consistently on their Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) profiles to avoid complications during property transfers. In a public notice, the association said the names of both the transferor—the person transferring a property—and the transferee—the person receiving it—should match their respective CNICs issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and their FBR registration records. The advisory asks individuals whose names differ in FBR records to have their tax registration details corrected before proceeding with a transfer. It refers taxpayers to the registration modification process under Section 181 and advises them to use the FBR portal or contact the relevant Regional Tax Office (RTO). The association urged members to address discrepancies promptly, saying timely correction of records would help prevent potential problems during the transfer process. Its advice applies to people selling or transferring property as well as those acquiring it. FBR’s published guidance confirms that taxpayers can modify certain registration details through its Iris portal using Registration Form 181. It also identifies changes that require a visit to the relevant RTO with supporting documents. However, the guidance does not specifically list name correction among the changes available through the online form, so individuals facing this issue should confirm the applicable procedure with FBR. The notice concerns consistency between identity and tax registration records. CNICs are issued by NADRA, while taxpayer profiles are maintained by FBR. No correction deadline, additional transfer fee or specific penalty for a name discrepancy was stated in the notice. The association’s central message was to check records and resolve differences in advance to facilitate property transfers in DHA Lahore.
