Director General Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Tahir Farooq visited various points along Ferozepur Road and inspected ongoing beautification, revamping, repair and rehabilitation works at the Abdul Sattar Edhi Underpass and Gajjumata Stop.
LDA Chief Engineer Israr Saeed, the project director and director of architecture briefed the DG on the progress of ongoing projects and the proposed designs for development works at different locations.
Tahir Farooq said the LDA was carrying out phased development and beautification works under an urban regeneration initiative covering around 15 kilometres on both sides of Ferozepur Road. The project envisages the gradual upgrading of the corridor from Canal Bank Road to the Ring Road.
He said the revamping plan would include road repair, rehabilitation and patchwork, along with improvements to urban facilities and road infrastructure. Footpaths and parking areas would be developed along the road, while seating spaces would also be created to improve public convenience.
The DG said the façades of commercial and other properties along Ferozepur Road would be improved, while signage would be upgraded to create a more organised and visually coherent corridor.
He further directed officials to utilise available spaces beneath flyovers and bridges by developing organised parking and seating areas. Encroachments, hanging wires and illegal signage would also be removed from different sections of the road.
During the visit, Tahir Farooq inspected the pilot revamping project underway at Gajjumata Stop and reviewed the pace and quality of work. He directed officials to ensure that development activities remain focused on public convenience, smooth traffic flow and improved urban aesthetics.
The LDA chief also directed officials to undertake traffic remodelling and improve parking arrangements outside hospitals along Ferozepur Road to address congestion and facilitate the movement of motorists and pedestrians.
He reviewed proposed designs for development works at various points along the corridor and directed officials to finalise the plans in line with practical requirements and ground realities.
According to LDA officials, the proposed urban regeneration of Ferozepur Road is aimed at improving road infrastructure, pedestrian facilities, parking, landscaping and the external appearance of commercial properties, while also addressing encroachments and unregulated signage along the major corridor.

The Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (CBD Punjab) has opened Lahore Global Village in Johar Town for business activity, with premium retail shops and kiosks now available for lease.
CBD Punjab is marketing Lahore Global Village as a mixed lifestyle commercial destination designed to bring together retail, dining, entertainment and other commercial activities within a single development.
The authority has also announced an exclusive discount offer for prospective tenants, valid until October 15, 2026. The leasing campaign is aimed at attracting brands, dining establishments, retail outlets, entertainment businesses and lifestyle ventures to the development.
The launch of retail leasing marks a transition from the development phase toward active commercial occupancy and business activity. The project’s commercial performance will depend on its ability to attract tenants while generating sustained customer footfall and maintaining business activity over the longer term.
Prospective tenants are advised to obtain the latest leasing terms directly from CBD Punjab and verify rental rates, security deposit and advance payment requirements, maintenance charges, available shop and kiosk sizes, fit out conditions, permitted business categories, lease tenure and the exact terms of the discount offer ending October 15.
Located in Johar Town, Lahore Global Village is positioned within a significant residential, commercial and institutional corridor of the city, providing the development with access to an established urban market for retail and lifestyle businesses.

The Punjab government has proposed a Rs 4.23 billion residential project in Lahore to provide housing for government officials, featuring 24 two bedroom apartments along with a range of high-end recreational and administrative facilities.
The project has been included in the province's Annual Development Programme for the fiscal year 2026-27 and is planned on 60 kanals and one marla of government owned land along Burki Road in Lahore Cantonment.
According to official project documents, the Services and General Administration Department has proposed the construction of 24 two bedroom apartments for government officials.
The main residential building will comprise a basement, ground floor and six additional floors. The estimated construction cost of the building stands at more than Rs 2.05 billion.
The proposed complex will include several high end facilities, including a VIP gym, library, indoor games area, seminar room, VIP executive lounge and café.
A separate convention hall measuring approximately 40,246 square feet is also part of the project. The estimated cost of the convention hall has been put at Rs 547.2 million.
The scheme also includes extensive parking facilities, with space planned for 164 cars and 47 motorcycles. In addition, a separate basement parking facility has been proposed for 26 vehicles.
Several other components account for a significant portion of the project's estimated cost. These include more than Rs 145.1 million for generators, over Rs 55.4 million for a solar power system and approximately Rs 335.8 million for external development works.
The project also allocates more than Rs 152.1 million for furniture, while Rs 10 million has been proposed for gym equipment.
However, the proposed cost and specifications have come under scrutiny from the Planning and Development Department's technical wing.
Officials have raised concerns over the overall financial size of the project and questioned the need for imported construction materials and several expensive facilities.
The technical wing has called for a detailed review of projected expenditures on elevators, heating and cooling systems, generators, solar installations, backup power arrangements and other costly components.
The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) also reviewed the scheme and considered the estimated cost of more than Rs 4.23 billion to be excessive.
Officials raised particular concerns about the proposed basement parking facility for 26 vehicles, arguing that it could result in an expensive and inefficient use of available resources.
The department has consequently been directed to examine the possibility of replacing the basement parking with surface parking. Officials noted that adequate space is reportedly available at the proposed site for such an arrangement.
Despite the concerns over cost and design, the proposed residential complex is expected to be completed within 24 months once approved and formally launched.
The project remains subject to further review of its design, cost estimates and individual components before final approval and implementation.
