Managing Director of the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Lahore, Ahmad Usman Javed, visited Murree and inspected various parks and ongoing development projects, directing authorities to complete the Bagh e Shaheedan Park project within the stipulated timeframe.
During his visit to the under-construction Bagh e Shaheedan Park, the PHA chief reviewed ongoing construction activities, physical and financial progress, and the facilities were developed at the site. Project Director Shafique Raza, Director Engineering Samavia and the contractor briefed him on the progress of the project.
Ahmad Usman Javed said Bagh e Shaheedan Park is being developed on 40 kanals of land at an estimated cost of Rs 521 million. The park will feature a food court, steak house, dancing fountain, tree pots and other recreational and public facilities for residents and tourists.
He said the project would include extensive horticultural work along with quality recreational facilities, providing visitors to Murree with additional opportunities for leisure and entertainment.
The PHA Managing Director directed the relevant authorities to ensure that construction work is completed within the stipulated period and that the quality of construction materials is not compromised. He stressed that construction speed must be matched by strict adherence to quality standards.
During the visit, Ahmad Usman Javed also inspected PIA Park Murree and the Botanical Garden Murree. He said PIA Park, spread over 17 kanals, had already been completed at a cost of Rs 300 million.
According to the PHA chief, the Botanical Garden Murree will further expand recreational opportunities in the area and provide residents and tourists with greater access to natural and landscaped spaces.
He also directed officials to maintain high standards of facilities, landscaping and horticulture across ongoing and completed park projects in Murree.

The Murree district administration has installed modern decorative and colorful lighting at key public locations in the city as part of efforts to improve the hill station’s appearance and enhance facilities for tourists.
The new lighting has been installed at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and PIA Park under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Bright and Roshan Punjab” vision, which focuses on improving the appearance and public environment of urban areas across the province.
According to officials, the initiative was carried out on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Murree. The Additional Deputy Commissioner Murree and the Managing Director of the Parks and Horticulture Authority arranged the installation of the decorative lights at the selected locations.
Officials said the project is aimed at enhancing the visual appeal of important public spaces, particularly during evening hours, while also creating a more welcoming and pleasant environment for residents and tourists.
Murree remains one of Pakistan’s most popular tourist destinations and attracts a large number of visitors from different parts of the country throughout the year, particularly during the summer season, public holidays and periods of snowfall.
The district administration said beautification and improvement of public spaces are important for strengthening the city’s tourism appeal and improving the overall experience of visitors.
PIA Park is among the recreational spaces used by tourists and local residents, and the addition of decorative lighting is expected to improve its nighttime appearance and make the area more attractive for visitors.
Officials said similar beautification measures are intended to improve the appearance of prominent public places and recreational areas while maintaining Murree’s importance as a major hill station and tourism destination.
The administration said the latest lighting project forms part of broader efforts to improve public spaces, urban aesthetics and tourist facilities across the city.

The Punjab Local Government Department has decided to further strengthen its monitoring system for development projects across the province, with a renewed focus on transparency, timely completion and quality standards.
The decision was announced by Local Government Secretary Mian Shakeel Ahmed during his visit to Murree, where he reviewed various ongoing development schemes and inspected the progress of work at different sites.
According to officials, the monitoring mechanism will cover every stage of development projects, from initiation to completion. Contractors will be required to strictly follow approved timelines, technical specifications and quality standards. Any unnecessary delay or compromise on construction quality will not be tolerated.
During the visit, Secretary Mian Shakeel Ahmed chaired a review meeting on development projects being carried out in Murree. The deputy commissioner of Murree briefed him in detail about the current status, funding position and expected completion dates of different schemes.
The projects reviewed during the meeting included road repair work, improvement of tourist sites, sanitation system upgrades and urban facilities aimed at improving civic services for local residents as well as visitors.
Senior administrative officials from district and tehsil levels attended the meeting, including additional deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners of Murree and Kotli Sattian, and the chief officer of Murree Municipal Corporation.
After the meeting, Secretary Mian Shakeel Ahmed visited different project sites, including Khani Taak and Kashmir Point, where he inspected the pace and quality of ongoing work.
He directed the relevant departments to ensure that all development projects are completed within the given timeframe so that residents and tourists can benefit from improved facilities without delay.
The secretary appreciated the efforts of the Murree administration and said the Punjab Government is committed to improving infrastructure, public services and tourist facilities in Murree. He added that effective monitoring will help ensure that public funds are used properly and that development projects deliver real benefits to the people.
