The divisional administration has stepped up enforcement actions against illegal constructions and encroachments along the under construction Multan Avenue Road project, signaling a zero tolerance policy toward violations that hinder public infrastructure development.
The directives were issued during a high level meeting chaired by Commissioner Amir Karim Khan on Tuesday, where officials reviewed ongoing development work and regulatory challenges associated with the Multan Avenue corridor. Emphasizing strict compliance with urban planning rules, the commissioner ordered an across the board crackdown on buildings constructed in violation of approved maps, setback requirements, and commercialization policies.
Authorities have been directed to immediately remove illegal ramps, unauthorized access points, and all forms of encroachments obstructing service roads. The commissioner underscored that projects funded through public resources must remain free from illegal occupation, adding that no leniency would be shown in enforcing regulations.
To streamline the operation, the Multan Development Authority (MDA) and District Council have been tasked with compiling a comprehensive record of all unauthorized constructions along the route. The goal is to ensure that service roads remain fully accessible for public use and that future violations are effectively prevented.
In a move to sustain enforcement, the commissioner also ordered the formation of a dedicated patrolling unit. This unit will monitor the corridor regularly and take immediate action against illegal road cuts, fresh encroachments, and any damage to public property.
Senior officials, including MDA Additional Director General Attaul Haq and Director Development Multan Division Mubashirur Rehman, were present during the meeting.
Separately, the commissioner visited the under construction road connecting Nag Shah Flyover to Sher Shah Interchange, where he reviewed progress and directed the contractor to complete the Rs119 million project within two months. He stressed strict adherence to timelines and construction quality standards.
The 3.05 kilometre road project is expected to significantly improve connectivity between the motorway and Multan city, helping ease traffic congestion and enhance urban mobility. The project includes a 24 foot wide dual carriageway on both sides, modern carpeting, and supporting infrastructure.
According to XEN Highways Haider Ali, the development plan incorporates 8-inch asphalt layering, application of tack coat, lane markings, installation of 2,376 cat’s eyes, and 10 road signboards.
Officials noted that the project addresses a long-standing demand for improved traffic management and urban connectivity in Multan, and once completed, it is expected to bring substantial relief to daily commuters.

The Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) has launched a large scale crackdown against illegal housing schemes in Ravi City, sealing multiple property offices. According to a spokesperson, the operations were carried out under the supervision of the Development and Building Control Department by teams of Deputy Directors.
During the operation, the offices of Meadows City, located on Multan Road in the Chuhng area, were sealed.
Officials stated that the housing scheme was unapproved and illegal buying and selling of properties was ongoing, which led to the action.
The RUDA administration has made it clear that no housing scheme will be allowed to operate without a No Objection Certificate (NOC). Citizens have also been advised to verify approvals with relevant authorities before making any investment to avoid potential losses.

A key meeting on revenue generation was held under the chairmanship of Director General Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Tahir Farooq, where a detailed review of revenue targets and performance for the last quarter of the current fiscal year was conducted.
During the meeting, Director Finance Kashif Imran briefed participants on the revenue targets of various departments, while Chief Town Planner I and Chief Town Planner II presented updates on the performance and progress of their respective zones.
The DG LDA directed that a special campaign be launched in the final quarter to achieve revenue targets and that recovery operations be further intensified across all zones. He emphasized that penalties imposed on illegal commercial activities must be recovered on a daily basis.
Tahir Farooq further instructed that commercial fees on newly declared commercial roads must be ensured at all costs, and that officers of the Town Planning Wing should remain active in the field and perform their duties effectively.
The meeting also reviewed revenue targets of various LDA housing schemes, particularly LDA Avenue One and LDA City.
The DG LDA directed that daily progress reports on the recovery campaign be submitted to ensure achievement of the set targets.
The meeting was attended by relevant officers, including the Director Revenue, Director Auction, and other officials.
Meanwhile, LDA has announced that the next ballot for plots in its housing schemes will be held in May, while the last date to apply for plots on easy installments is set as May 11.
