On the directives of DG LDA Tahir Farooq, the Town Planning Wing of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) is actively conducting operations against illegal commercial buildings and defaulters of commercial fees.
On Tuesday, LDA teams carried out operations in various housing schemes and controlled areas, sealing a total of 114 properties. The actions were taken in Defence Road, Babar Block New Garden Town, Shadbagh, Gulshan Ravi, New Muslim Town, and Sabzazar.
On Defence Road, 55 properties were sealed for illegal commercial use. Meanwhile, in Babar Block New Garden Town, 7 properties, and in Shadbagh, Gulshan Ravi, and New Muslim Town, 42 properties were sealed due to non-payment of commercial fees and illegal usage. During a recovery operation in Sabzazar, an additional 10 properties were sealed.
The sealed properties include wedding halls, marquees, private schools, academies, workshops, electric stores, restaurants, food points, grocery stores, bakeries, beauty salons, pharmacies, clinics, shops, and offices.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Chief Town Planner I Asad uz Zaman and Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali. According to the DG LDA, indiscriminate actions against illegal commercial activities and fee defaulters will continue in the future.

The Lahore High Court’s Justice Shahid Karim has issued a written verdict in the smog mitigation case, lifting the stay order previously imposed on the Sheranwala and Taxali Gate projects. The court clarified that the relevant development projects may now proceed under the newly approved Regulations 2026.
The court also removed restrictions on development projects undertaken by the C&W Department, while emphasizing that all legal and environmental requirements must be strictly followed.
According to the written order, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has been directed to fulfill all necessary legal and environmental conditions before initiating any development project. The court further ordered that tree cutting be regulated under strict rules and that replantation be ensured in accordance with applicable regulations.
Moreover, the court instructed commission members to ensure effective monitoring at every stage of development projects to prevent any violations of environmental principles. In its remarks, the court stated that while development activities may continue, environmental protection must be ensured at all costs.

Under the development program of the Chief Minister Punjab, work on an important project to conserve rainwater is progressing rapidly in Toba Tek Singh district. In this regard, a modern underground water storage tank is being constructed at Bilal Park to ensure effective drainage and storage of rainwater.
According to the district administration, instructions have been issued to complete the project within the stipulated time, while construction work is being regularly monitored. The Deputy Commissioner stated that upon completion, the project will help address the issue of water accumulation in lowlying areas.
Furthermore, recharge wells will contribute to improving the groundwater level. The administration added that the project will provide better drainage facilities to citizens and also contribute to overall environmental improvement.
