The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 43 commercial properties and demolished structures and infrastructure in illegal housing schemes across the city during enforcement operations conducted on October 12 and 13, 2026.

According to details, LDA teams sealed 15 commercial properties in Gulberg, 10 in Allama Iqbal Town and 18 along GT Road. The affected premises included shops, private schools, clinics, pharmacies, restaurants, beauty salons, showrooms and workshops.

LDA officials said the sealing operations were carried out to curb unauthorized commercial activities and recover outstanding commercial fees. The authority continues to take enforcement action against businesses operating in violation of applicable regulations.

Separately, LDA teams conducted demolition operations in housing schemes located along Sundar–Raiwind Road and Multan Road. The operation involved the removal of boundary walls, offices, roads and other related infrastructure. The locations identified in the enforcement drive included Mashallah Villas, an illegal subdivision near Mal Pind, Daman City, Maraka Marketing, Maraka Homes, Maraka City and New Lahore City.

According to available records, 270.20 kanals of land in Blocks A and B of Daman City, situated in Mouza Maraka, was listed as finally approved in the LDA approval register on August 30, 2022. However, the details released regarding the recent operation did not clarify whether the approved land parcel was affected by the demolition drive or whether any change had been made to its approval status.

LDA officials said the primary objective of the enforcement operations was to protect citizens from potential financial losses associated with investments in illegal housing projects and to ensure that commercial and construction activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.

The authority is also using digital tracking systems to monitor the sealing and de-sealing of properties, with the aim of improving record-keeping and strengthening oversight of enforcement activities.

Meanwhile, LDA Director General Tahir Farooq, during a recent revenue review meeting, directed officials to accelerate the recovery of outstanding dues, ensure compliance with the prescribed auction schedule and advance marketing efforts for the proposed Tech Park on Ferozepur Road.

The enforcement operations were conducted under the supervision of Chief Town Planner-I Asad-uz-Zaman.

The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has directed officials to accelerate construction work on the Peoples Sky View Housing Project in Surjani Town, emphasising the need to complete the remaining work promptly while maintaining construction quality and ensuring the timely delivery of affordable housing units.
The directive was issued by KDA Director General Zain-ul-Abideen Ansari on October 12, 2026, following an inspection of the project site, including the construction area, site office and a model apartment.
During the visit, Ansari reviewed the quality of workmanship and the building materials being used in the project. He instructed the executive engineer responsible for the development to address the shortcomings identified during the inspection and improve the pace of construction.
The project team has been directed to submit a comprehensive report within one week, detailing the reasons for delays, the cost of materials currently available and any other outstanding issues affecting progress.
Accompanied by KDA Director of Estate Enforcement Syed Zain Shah, the director general stressed the importance of completing affordable residential units without compromising construction standards. The instructions also require prompt reporting on the project's status and accelerated completion of the remaining work.
However, no revised completion or possession date was announced following the inspection.
The Peoples Sky View Housing Project is a Sindh government-backed residential initiative being developed under the supervision of the KDA. Located near Four Chowrangi in Sector 7-B, Scheme 41, Surjani Town, the project was initially planned to comprise seven towers containing a total of 1,700 apartments.
According to information available from June 2023, the project offered residential units of different sizes under a four-year instalment plan.
Three-bedroom apartments measuring 995 square feet, equivalent to approximately 110 square yards, were priced at Rs8,756,000. Four-bedroom apartments measuring 1,400 square feet, or approximately 155 square yards, were priced at Rs12,276,000.
Applicants were required to purchase a non-refundable application form for Rs5,000 and submit a refundable security deposit of Rs50,000.
The application period in June 2023 ran from June 5 to June 25, with the balloting scheduled approximately 40 days after the application deadline. Under the initial allocation procedure, tenants were given preference.
The latest directive signals renewed administrative attention to construction progress at the housing scheme. The requirement for a detailed report within one week is expected to help the authority identify the causes of delays and determine the measures needed to accelerate development.
The KDA has not announced a revised project completion schedule or a new date for handing over apartments to allottees.
