The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has decided to take action against single phase electricity consumers who are using more power than their approved load, following the identification of violations across its network.
According to LESCO officials, records of Maximum Demand Indicator (MDI) readings for single phase meters have been compiled, and these readings are now also being displayed on electricity bills to ensure more effective monitoring of power consumption.
Sources said that based on MDI data, a list of consumers has been prepared who are exceeding their sanctioned load in violation of their agreement. In the initial phase, these consumers will be issued load extension notices.
LESCO further stated that consumers whose electricity usage exceeds 3 kilowatts will be required to shift to three phase meters and will be issued demand notices for the conversion.
Officials clarified that under the new policy, only consumers with a load of up to 3 kW will be allowed to continue using single phase meters.
It was further added that once consumers are shifted to three-phase meters, their protected category status will be revoked, which is expected to result in higher fixed charges. LESCO said the move aims to balance the power distribution system and curb unauthorized or excessive electricity usage.

A key meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reviewed ongoing and proposed road projects across the province, while approving several major development initiatives.
During the meeting, the CM directed authorities to ensure the timely and high-quality construction of the Multan Vehari Road. The Lahore Ring Road SL4 project was formally approved, while in-principle approval was also granted for various phases of the Sialkot Ring Road and the conversion of Wazirabad Road to Sialkot Pasrur Road into a ring road.
The proposed Thal Expressway project was also presented, aimed at linking Bhakkar, Layyah, and other Thal region areas with the M-4 Motorway, and was termed an important regional connectivity initiative.
Progress on the Rawalpindi Signal-Free Corridor project was also reviewed. The project includes the construction of seven underpasses and one overhead bridge to improve traffic flow.
The Chief Minister directed authorities to ensure the timely completion of all ongoing projects and sought weekly progress reports. She emphasized that all road sector projects must be completed by June 30.
According to the briefing, a total of 2,143 road projects are currently underway across the province, with 258 under construction. Under the CM Initiative, 133 projects were reviewed, along with 125 others. In Phase I of the road rehabilitation program, 38 out of 85 schemes have been completed, while work continues on 47.
In Phase II, 18 out of 41 schemes have been completed, while 25 are still under construction.

Significant developments have been reported in the healthcare sector of district Kasur, where Bulleh Shah Hospital Kasur is being upgraded into a modern and model healthcare facility. Under the plan, a Cardiology and Angioplasty Unit is also being established to provide advanced treatment for heart patients.
In addition, funds have been released for the reconstruction of Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Pattoki and the completion of the Pattoki Trauma Center, which is expected to significantly improve emergency medical services in the region.
The establishment of a cardiology unit in THQ Pattoki is also under consideration to ensure timely and quality treatment at the local level.
These initiatives are being carried out under the leadership of CEO Health Kasur, Dr. Sohail Tariq. MPA Mahmood Anwar Chaudhry was also present during the meeting.
Citizens have welcomed these developments, stating that these projects will greatly improve healthcare facilities in the district and reduce the need for patients to travel to larger cities for treatment.
