A major revelation has surfaced regarding alleged collusion between officials and staff of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), resulting in billions of rupees in government recoveries from housing societies being adversely affected.
According to sources, outstanding dues for sewerage and drainage services from several major housing schemes in the city have not been recovered for many years.
Reports indicate that large housing schemes located along Canal Road, Raiwind Road, Harbanspura, GT Road, Johar Town, Kahna Road, Saggian, and Ferozepur Road are utilizing WASA’s infrastructure, including the public sewerage system, drainage network, and major disposal channels, without paying the required taxes and charges.
Sources claim that each major housing scheme owes millions of rupees, with the total outstanding amount reaching billions. Allegations have also emerged that some WASA officials and staff have allegedly made informal ‘arrangements’ with the owners of these schemes, resulting in a lack of proper recovery efforts.
On the other hand, the management of these housing societies is also accused of collecting millions of rupees monthly from residents in the name of sewerage and other services, but instead of depositing these funds into the government treasury, the money is allegedly being used for personal purposes.

The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Lahore has announced that possession of plots in five sectors of its Phase Prism 9 will be handed over starting April 6. The sectors include J, L, M, N, and P. Additionally, possession has also been announced for Sector A and Commercial Zone 4.
Investors and buyers had been anxiously waiting for this development for several months, and DHA Lahore has now officially made the announcement. The move has been widely welcomed by the real estate community associated with DHA.
Speaking to ReNews, Mian Qasim, CEO of Aims Real Estate, termed the announcement a positive development, stating that property prices in these sectors are likely to increase as a result.
He added that the possession process had been pending for nearly a year, and it was crucial to announce it before the launch of DHA Phase 10. He further noted that the current environment in DHA is favorable for investment and encouraged investors to take advantage of the opportunity.
Mian Abdul Razzaq, Chief Executive of Usman Property and Builders, also welcomed the decision, stating that once possession is granted, construction of houses and commercial buildings will begin. He added that these construction activities will generate new business and employment opportunities.

Provincial Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique has said that, under the personal interest of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, master planning for 37 districts and 128 tehsils of Punjab has been completed.
He further stated that the Artificial Intelligence (AI) system of the Punjab Spatial Planning Authority (PSPA) is currently undergoing training.
Special Secretary Development Aasia Gul and Additional Secretary Qurrat-ul-Ain also attended the meeting, while Director General PSPA Abdullah Nayyar briefed the participants.
