Lahore | ReNews International Desk Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered a ban on excavation and other forms of damage to newly constructed roads across the province, directing government departments and public agencies to coordinate development work before roads are built or resurfaced. The directive was issued during a meeting on Monday to review own-source revenue development projects, where the chief minister stressed the need to prevent newly completed roads from being repeatedly dug up for sewerage, utility or other infrastructure work. Maryam Nawaz instructed officials to ensure that development agencies coordinate their plans and complete underground infrastructure work before the construction or resurfacing of roads. The move is aimed at improving the quality and lifespan of new roads while reducing public inconvenience and unnecessary government expenditure. She also directed authorities to ensure that manholes and sewerage covers are properly aligned with road surfaces. Newly constructed roads must also include adequate drainage systems, clear road signage and proper lane markings. Development Projects Approved Across Major Punjab Cities The chief minister further ordered that government departments must obtain prior approval before collecting any charges from shopkeepers. Officials were also directed to establish separate and clearly defined timelines for individual development projects to ensure better monitoring and timely completion. During the meeting, the Punjab government approved a range of own-source revenue schemes for Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad. The approved projects cover road construction and widening, resurfacing, footpaths, drainage and sewerage infrastructure, urban beautification, sports facilities and the solarization of disposal stations. In Lahore, the government approved beautification projects covering 10 major roads. The selected routes include Egerton Road, Lytton Road, Davis Road, Lower Mall, Lawrence Road, Queen’s Road and Bank Road. The Lahore plans also include the beautification of Lakshmi Chowk and improvements along the Orange Line track on Multan Road. The work will involve cleaning, plantation and mural painting aimed at improving the overall appearance of key urban corridors. The government also approved rural road development projects in Lahore, along with road construction, solar streetlights and beautification schemes in Kasur. In Sheikhupura, five projects covering sewerage systems, pumping stations and road infrastructure were also approved. The latest directives reflect the Punjab government's broader push to improve urban infrastructure while ensuring that development projects are better coordinated, completed within defined timelines and protected from repeated excavation after construction.
لاہور | ری نیوز پاکستان وزیراعلیٰ پنجاب مریم نواز شریف نے صوبے بھر میں نئی تعمیر یا ازسرنو تیار کی جانے والی سڑکوں کی کھدائی اور انہیں کسی بھی قسم کے نقصان سے بچانے کے لیے پابندی عائد کرنے کا حکم دے دیا ہے۔ انہوں نے سرکاری محکموں اور متعلقہ اداروں کو ہدایت کی ہے کہ سڑکوں کی تعمیر یا مرمت سے قبل تمام ترقیاتی اور انفراسٹرکچر کے کاموں میں باہمی رابطہ یقینی بنایا جائے۔ یہ ہدایات پیر کو اپنے ذرائع سے آمدن بڑھانے کے لیے جاری ترقیاتی منصوبوں کے جائزہ اجلاس کے دوران دی گئیں۔ اجلاس میں وزیراعلیٰ نے اس امر پر زور دیا کہ نئی تعمیر شدہ سڑکوں کو سیوریج، یوٹیلٹی لائنوں یا دیگر بنیادی ڈھانچے کے کاموں کے لیے بار بار کھودنے سے ہر صورت روکا جائے۔ مریم نواز نے متعلقہ حکام کو ہدایت کی کہ تمام ترقیاتی ادارے اپنے منصوبوں کو باہم مربوط کریں اور سڑکوں کی تعمیر یا ازسرنو کارپٹنگ سے پہلے زیرِ زمین انفراسٹرکچر کے ضروری کام مکمل کیے جائیں۔ اس اقدام کا مقصد نئی سڑکوں کے معیار اور پائیداری کو بہتر بنانا، عوام کو بار بار ہونے والی پریشانی سے بچانا اور سرکاری وسائل کے غیر ضروری استعمال کو کم کرنا ہے۔ وزیراعلیٰ نے یہ بھی ہدایت کی کہ مین ہولز اور سیوریج کے ڈھکن سڑک کی سطح کے عین مطابق رکھے جائیں، جبکہ نئی تعمیر ہونے والی سڑکوں پر مناسب نکاسی آب، واضح سائن بورڈز اور لین مارکنگ کا بھی مؤثر انتظام کیا جائے۔ وزیراعلیٰ نے مزید حکم دیا کہ کوئی بھی سرکاری محکمہ دکانداروں سے فیس یا دیگر چارجز وصول کرنے سے قبل باقاعدہ منظوری حاصل کرے۔ انہوں نے ترقیاتی منصوبوں کے لیے الگ الگ اور واضح مدت مقرر کرنے کی بھی ہدایت کی تاکہ منصوبوں کی نگرانی بہتر انداز میں کی جا سکے اور انہیں مقررہ وقت میں مکمل کیا جا سکے۔ اجلاس کے دوران پنجاب حکومت نے لاہور، ملتان، بہاولپور، ساہیوال، راولپنڈی اور فیصل آباد میں اپنے ذرائع سے آمدن حاصل کرنے والے مختلف ترقیاتی منصوبوں کی منظوری دی۔ ان منصوبوں میں سڑکوں کی تعمیر اور توسیع، ازسرنو تعمیر، فٹ پاتھ، نکاسی آب اور سیوریج کا نظام، شہری خوبصورتی، کھیلوں کی سہولیات اور ڈسپوزل اسٹیشنز کو شمسی توانائی پر منتقل کرنے کے منصوبے شامل ہیں۔ لاہور میں 10 اہم سڑکوں کی خوبصورتی کے منصوبوں کی منظوری دی گئی ہے۔ ان سڑکوں میں ایجرٹن روڈ، لٹن روڈ، ڈیوس روڈ، لوئر مال، لارنس روڈ، کوئینز روڈ اور بینک روڈ شامل ہیں۔ لاہور کے منصوبوں میں لکشمی چوک کی تزئین و آرائش اور ملتان روڈ پر اورنج لائن ٹریک کے اطراف بھی بہتری کے اقدامات شامل ہیں۔ ان منصوبوں کے تحت صفائی، شجرکاری اور دیواروں پر خوبصورت نقش و نگار بنانے کا کام کیا جائے گا، جس کا مقصد شہر کی اہم شاہراہوں اور شہری مقامات کی مجموعی خوبصورتی میں اضافہ کرنا ہے۔ حکومت نے لاہور کے دیہی علاقوں میں سڑکوں کی تعمیر و ترقی کے منصوبوں کے علاوہ قصور میں سڑکوں، سولر اسٹریٹ لائٹس اور شہری خوبصورتی سے متعلق مختلف اسکیموں کی بھی منظوری دی۔ شیخوپورہ میں سیوریج نظام، پمپسنگ اسٹیشنز اور سڑکوں کے بنیادی ڈھانچے سے متعلق پانچ منصوبوں کی منظوری بھی دی گئی ہے۔ حکومت کے تازہ اقدامات پنجاب میں شہری اور دیہی بنیادی ڈھانچے کو بہتر بنانے کی وسیع تر حکمت عملی کا حصہ ہیں، جس کے تحت ترقیاتی منصوبوں میں محکموں کے درمیان بہتر رابطہ، مقررہ مدت میں تکمیل اور نئی تعمیر شدہ سڑکوں کو دوبارہ کھدائی سے محفوظ رکھنے پر خصوصی توجہ دی جا رہی ہے۔

Lahore | ReNews Pakistan The Lahore High Court has declared the disconnection of a separate domestic electricity connection to recover outstanding dues from an industrial electricity connection illegal, setting an important legal principle regarding the recovery of outstanding payments by power distribution companies from industrial consumers. Justice Javad Hassan issued the ruling while hearing a petition filed by Ghazi Akhtar Khan, brother of Prime Minister’s Adviser Haroon Akhtar Khan. The court directed the relevant authorities to hear the petitioner within two weeks and issue a reasoned decision in accordance with the law. The court also restrained the authorities from taking any coercive action against the petitioner. The key point of the ruling is that a consumer’s separate domestic electricity connection cannot be used as a means of pressure or recovery for outstanding dues related to an industrial connection. The decision is significant for the corporate and industrial sectors, as many businesses may have separate electricity connections for industrial and domestic purposes. Lahore | Riaz Hussain ReNews Pakistan The Lahore Development Authority has launched a major operation against illegal commercial buildings and properties with unpaid commercialisation fees across areas under its jurisdiction, demolishing two structures under construction and sealing 101 properties. According to the LDA, Town Planning Wing teams carried out simultaneous operations in Gajjumata, Attari Saroba, Gulberg, Faisal Town, Canal Road, Samanabad, GT Road and Allama Iqbal Town on the instructions of Director General Tahir Farooq. During the operation, the teams demolished an illegally constructed building near the Gajjumata Metro Bus Station. Unauthorised structures under construction near Central Park Housing Scheme Phase II were also demolished. LDA teams sealed several properties near Attari Saroba for the unauthorised commercial use of residential premises. Another 28 properties were sealed in Gulberg and Faisal Town for carrying out commercial activities in violation of regulations. A further 60 properties were sealed along Canal Road, Samanabad and GT Road over illegal commercial use and the nonpayment of outstanding commercialisation fees. During a separate recovery operation, the teams sealed 12 properties in Allama Iqbal Town. The sealed premises include private schools, clinics, beauty salons, cafés, restaurants, food outlets, grocery stores, hardware stores, pharmacies, shops, showrooms, offices and other commercial establishments. Officials said notices had been issued to the property owners before the operation. Action was taken after they failed to bring the properties into conformity with their approved use or clear outstanding dues within the prescribed period. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Chief Town Planner One Asad uz Zaman and Chief Town Planner Two Azhar Ali, with joint participation from the Town Planning Wing and enforcement staff. LDA Director General Tahir Farooq said indiscriminate action against illegal commercial buildings and properties with unpaid commercialisation fees would continue across the city. He advised property owners to use their premises in accordance with approved regulations and pay all outstanding dues on time to avoid legal action.
لاہور : ریاض حسین ری نیوز پاکستان لاہور ڈویلپمنٹ اتھارٹی نے اپنے زیر انتظام علاقوں میں غیرقانونی کمرشل عمارتوں اور کمرشل فیس ادا نہ کرنے والی املاک کے خلاف بڑے پیمانے پر کارروائی کرتے ہوئے دو زیر تعمیر عمارتیں مسمار اور 101 املاک سیل کر دیں۔ ایل ڈی اے کے مطابق ڈائریکٹر جنرل طاہر فاروق کی ہدایت پر ٹاؤن پلاننگ ونگ کی ٹیموں نے گجومتہ، اٹاری سروبہ، گلبرگ، فیصل ٹاؤن، کینال روڈ، سمن آباد، جی ٹی روڈ اور علامہ اقبال ٹاؤن میں بیک وقت کارروائیاں کیں۔ آپریشن کے دوران گجومتہ میٹرو بس سٹیشن کے قریب زیر تعمیر ایک غیر قانونی عمارت مسمار کر دی گئی۔ اسی طرح سینٹرل پارک ہاؤسنگ سکیم فیز ٹو کے قریب جاری غیرقانونی تعمیرات کو بھی گرا دیا گیا۔ ایل ڈی اے ٹیموں نے اٹاری سروبہ کے قریب رہائشی املاک کے غیرقانونی کمرشل استعمال پر متعدد عمارتیں سیل کیں، جبکہ گلبرگ اور فیصل ٹاؤن میں خلاف ضابطہ تجارتی سرگرمیوں پر 28 املاک کو سیل کر دیا گیا۔ کینال روڈ، سمن آباد اور جی ٹی روڈ پر غیرقانونی کمرشل استعمال اور واجب الادا کمرشل فیس جمع نہ کرانے پر 60 املاک سیل کی گئیں۔ ریکوری آپریشن کے دوران علامہ اقبال ٹاؤن میں بھی 12 املاک کو سیل کیا گیا۔ سیل کی گئی املاک میں نجی سکول، کلینک، بیوٹی سیلون، کیفے، ریستوران، فوڈ پوائنٹ، گروسری سٹور، ہارڈویئر سٹور، فارمیسی، دکانیں، شوروم اور دفاتر سمیت مختلف کاروباری مراکز شامل ہیں۔ حکام کے مطابق کارروائی سے پہلے متعلقہ املاک کے مالکان کو نوٹس جاری کیے گئے تھے، تاہم مقررہ مدت میں عمارتوں کو منظور شدہ استعمال کے مطابق نہ کرنے اور واجبات کی ادائیگی نہ ہونے پر آپریشن کیا گیا۔ یہ کارروائیاں چیف ٹاؤن پلانر ون اسد الزمان اور چیف ٹاؤن پلانر ٹو اظہر علی کی نگرانی میں انجام دی گئیں، جبکہ ٹاؤن پلاننگ ونگ اور انفورسمنٹ کے عملے نے مشترکہ طور پر آپریشن میں حصہ لیا۔ ڈی جی ایل ڈی اے طاہر فاروق نے کہا ہے کہ شہر میں غیرقانونی کمرشل عمارتوں اور کمرشل فیس ادا نہ کرنے والی املاک کے خلاف بلاامتیاز کارروائیاں جاری رہیں گی۔ انہوں نے جائیداد مالکان کو ہدایت کی کہ وہ کسی بھی قانونی کارروائی سے بچنے کیلئے اپنی املاک کا استعمال منظور شدہ قواعد کے مطابق کریں اور تمام واجبات بروقت ادا کریں۔
